The team behind the Ealing Half Marathon has begun its annual search for volunteers, calling on residents, running clubs and workplaces in the area to help deliver one of the area’s most celebrated community sporting weekends.

Organisers have opened registrations for volunteer roles across both the Ealing Mini Mile on Saturday 26 September and the flagship Half Marathon on Sunday 27 September 2026. Everyone who signs up — whether for one day or the whole weekend — will receive a free race place for the 2027 Ealing Half Marathon as a thank‑you.

Now entering its fourteenth year, the event has become a cornerstone of the local sporting calendar, renowned for its friendly atmosphere, strong community spirit and the hundreds of volunteers who keep the 13.1‑mile route running smoothly. From marshalling neighbourhood streets to cheering on young runners at the Mini Mile, volunteers are central to what organisers call the “#EalingFeeling”.

Sandra Courtney, Founder and Event Director, said the event simply could not happen without them.

“Our volunteers are absolutely everything to these events. Without them, there is no race weekend. Every year, the energy and dedication of our volunteer team blows me away, and I couldn’t be prouder of the community we’ve built together since 2012. Whether you’d like to join us for the Mini Mile on Saturday, the Half Marathon on Sunday, or both, we’d love to have you. It’s a brilliant weekend, and one you won’t forget.”

Saturday’s Ealing Mini Mile — supported by headline sponsor Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club — celebrates young runners from across the borough. Volunteers help manage the course, support families, and ensure the day runs safely and smoothly.

Sunday’s Half Marathon brings thousands of runners to the streets of Ealing, Pitshanger, Hanwell and West Ealing. A large volunteer team is essential to managing road closures, guiding runners, staffing water stations and supporting the busy start and finish areas.

Volunteer opportunities include course marshals, team leaders, cycling marshals, water‑station crews, registration and bag‑drop support, and start‑finish area roles. All volunteers receive refreshments on the day in addition to their complimentary 2027 race entry.

Organisers are also encouraging clubs, community groups and workplaces to sign up as teams, describing the weekend as an excellent opportunity for group volunteering, team‑building and corporate social responsibility activity.

Volunteer registration is now open at ealinghalfmarathon.com/volunteer, or by emailing info@ealinghalfmarathon.com.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
