Ealing’s home-grown ultramarathon is set to return, with WeRunEaling announcing the next edition of the Queen of the Suburbs Ultra, London’s only single-borough ultramarathon. The event offers runners a choice of 25km or 50km, taking them through parks, canal paths, greenways and hidden trails across the borough.

The race, now firmly established on West London’s running calendar, blends urban streets with some of Ealing’s most scenic landscapes. Organisers describe it as a celebration of “community, grit and endurance”, showcasing the borough’s long-standing nickname as the Queen of the Suburbs.

Ahead of race day, WeRunEaling will host a free, community-led training run, open to runners of all abilities. The session is designed to help participants meet one another, build confidence on the route and share miles in a supportive environment.

Both distances take runners on a tour of Ealing’s green heart, from quiet riverside paths to the climb up Horsenden Hill, where sweeping views stretch across to Wembley Stadium. Organisers say the course is designed not just as a physical challenge but as a way to discover parts of the borough many residents have never explored.

The ultramarathon began as a lockdown project in 2020–21, when WeRunEaling launched the Queen of the Suburbs Challenge, encouraging runners to visit every park and green space in the borough. Some participants began linking parks together in long, self-guided routes that reached ultra distances — sparking the idea for a fully mapped, fully supported race contained entirely within Ealing’s boundaries.

The first official event took place in March 2024, returning in March 2025 with even more runners taking on the borough-wide adventure.

Full details, including registration, route maps and training opportunities, are available at on the Queen of the Suburbs Ultramarathon web site.
