Detectives investigating a fatal stabbing in Southall have named the victim as 26-year-old Gurbhej Singh, as officers continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.
Police were called at 00:41 on Wednesday 10 June after the London Ambulance Service reported a stabbing on North Road, close to the junction with Dormers Wells Lane by the Sarin Superstore. Officers arrived alongside paramedics and found two men suffering injuries.
Despite the efforts of emergency crews, Mr Singh — who had sustained a knife wound — was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are being supported by specialist officers. The second man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.
Seven men, aged from their early 20s to late 30s, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Following further enquiries, six have since been released with no further action. One man has been bailed to return at a later date.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said the investigation remains active and urged anyone with information to come forward.
“Homicide detectives continue to investigate Mr Singh’s tragic death and my thoughts remain with his family and loved ones,” she said. “We believe he was assaulted outside a shop at the junction of North Road and Dormers Wells Lane at around 00:30. I would urge anyone with CCTV covering the area — or who was in the area at the time and has not yet spoken to police — to please come forward.”
