Relatively Speaking is the comedy that made the playwright's name
May 6, 2025 Alan Ayckbourn’s breakthrough play Relatively Speaking, is to be performed at The Questors. Now regarded as a classic of British comedy theatre, written in 1965 it was his first major success. This comedy of crossed wires and confused identities is being performed in The Studio from 9 – 17 May. It’s the 60s, and in their tiny bedsit, Ginny and Greg are rapturously in love. Greg has decided it is the right moment to pop the question, so when Ginny announces she’s off to visit her parents, he sees it as the perfect opportunity to dash there first and ask her Dad’s permission. Off he goes to Buckinghamshire where he finds Philip and Sheila enjoying a peaceful Sunday morning breakfast in the garden. But the only thing is - they’re not Ginny’s parents. Performances are at 7:30m except on Sunday 11 May when it is being staged at 2:30pm and Monday when there is no play. The captioned performance is on Thursday 15 May. Tickets cost from £10 to £24.
