Emphasis on local talent as submissions from West London surge
September 4, 2025 The Ealing Film Festival is set to return for its sixth edition next month, with screenings and events taking place across three venues: ActOne Cinema, Ealing Picturehouse, and Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery. The festival, which runs from 2 to 4 October, will feature a curated selection of short films from both UK and international filmmakers, alongside workshops and panel discussions. This year’s programme places particular emphasis on local talent, with a notable increase in submissions from filmmakers based in West London. In response, organisers have added an additional screen at ActOne Cinema to accommodate the expanded Homegrown category. The festival continues its partnership with the University of West London to support emerging creatives. A new award sponsored by Ealing Studios will be introduced this year, recognising outstanding contributions to short-form storytelling. Festival Co-Director Anthony Coyle-Dowling noted the diversity and quality of submissions, describing the programme as a reflection of the area’s creative energy and global reach. The full schedule, including screening times and event listings, is available on the festival’s website where tickets are now on sale. The event continues to build on Ealing’s long-standing association with film, offering a platform for new voices and fostering dialogue around the future of cinema. The Ealing Film Festival was launched in 2020 and showcases a wide range of storytelling styles and perspectives. It takes inspiration from Ealing’s historic ties to British cinema and aims to support both new and experienced filmmakers.
