A prolific shoplifter who had been repeatedly targeting a service station off the A40 in Perivale has been arrested after a swift intervention by officers from the Ealing Broadway Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT).

Two PCSOs from the team were returning from Northolt when they stopped to refuel. As they arrived, staff alerted them that a known shoplifter had just left the shop carrying a large laundry bag filled with stolen beers. The PCSOs immediately gave chase and detained the suspect after a short pursuit.

Within minutes, fellow officers from the Ealing Broadway SNT responded to the call on the radio and arrived at the scene. The habitual offender — already wanted for previous incidents — was arrested and taken into custody.

Police say the individual had been repeatedly targeting the service station, stealing alcohol with the intention of selling it on to shops and restaurants. The arrest brings an end to a pattern of offending that had caused significant concern for staff and local businesses.

The SNT praised the quick actions of the PCSOs and the coordinated response from officers, describing the incident as an example of effective neighbourhood policing and strong partnership with local retailers.
