Police in Ealing have issued a fresh warning to residents after a rise in burglaries across the area, with three streets — Eaton Rise, Mount Park Rise and Argyle Road — highlighted as repeat locations in recent months.
According to the neighbourhood policing team, residential burglaries have increased over the past three months, affecting both houses and flats, including upper-floor properties.
Officers say offenders are typically entering through rear doors and windows, often forcing or smashing them, sometimes using crowbars. Jewellery remains the most commonly stolen item.
The Met is urging residents to take extra precautions, particularly those living on or near the affected streets.
Officers are asking households to:
- Activate alarms on both floors
- Keep upstairs windows and doors locked
- Leave lights or electronics on when out
- Move bins or garden items that could be used to climb
- Secure safes to walls or floors
- Keep jewellery out of sight
- Ensure CCTV and doorbell cameras are switched on, including at the rear of properties
Further guidance includes double-locking doors, securing sheds and garages, using laminated glass or security film on accessible windows, and keeping keys and handbags away from letterboxes.
Police are asking anyone who sees suspicious activity or has information about recent incidents to contact the Ealing Broadway neighbourhood team at ealingbroadway@met.police.uk.
The neighbourhood and proactive policing teams are working together to identify suspects and link offences across the borough.
The Met is also urging residents to report incidents online at met.police.uk, via web chat, or by calling 101. Emergency situations should always be reported via 999.
Officers say they are developing a new policing strategy for London and want residents to contribute to the borough’s priority survey so they can better understand local concerns.
A spokesperson said the survey helps ensure police “focus on things that matter to you”.
