A 39-year-old man from Ealing has been given an indefinite hospital order after it was judged he was insane when attacked three people on tube platforms pushing one onto the tracks.

On Thursday 27 October 2022, within 35 minutes, Donovan Kenlyn engaged in violence against three men who were unknown to him.

Kenlyn, whose address had been given earlier as being on the North Circular Road, had been diagnosed as a schizophrenic and had a significant number of previous convictions for violence.

On the day of the attacks, he travelled from Hanger Lane station getting off at Baker Street where he attacked Samer Jawad at 11:30am punching him in the face a number of times.

Mr Jawad tried to get away but was knocked over and struck from behind leaving him with injuries to his face and mouth.

Shortly after this incident, Kenlyn boarded a train and travelled to Finchley Road where he pushed Angel Cambeiro onto the tracks. He ended up very close to a live rail which would have killed him had he touched it.

Mr Cambeiro suffered broken arm and dislocated elbow, injuries which have required him to take early retirement.

Kenlyn next went to West Hampstead where he struck Peter Acton on the back of the head just after noon. His victim suffered fractured ribs.

He was arrested four days later by British Transport Police after an appeal was made to find his whereabouts and remanded in custody.

In court Kenlyn accepted that he was the attacker in all three cases but said that his illness had led him to believe he was under threat.

He was found not guilty of the charges against him by reason of insanity including a charge of attempted murder against Mr Cambeiro.
