Hit and run driver fled scene after fatally injuring Jaroslaw Jadwidzic
October 16, 2025 On the two-year anniversary of a fatal road traffic collision in Southall, detectives from the Metropolitan Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses as investigations continue into the death of a man. The incident occurred at approximately 5:50am on Sunday, 15 October 2023, on Uxbridge Road at the junction with Greenford Road. According to reports, a black Mercedes overtook a bus and subsequently collided with a van parked near the Iron Bridge bus stop. Jaroslaw Jadwidzic, aged 46, was working at the bus stop at the time and was struck by the parked van. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Despite medical intervention, Mr Jadwidzic died in hospital on Tuesday, 24 October 2023. The driver and a passenger of the Mercedes, both believed to be male, fled the scene before police arrived. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit have continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, particularly individuals on the bus or at the bus stop. Detective Sergeant Nush Puvitharan stated, “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of Jaroslaw who are still waiting for answers around this death. Investigators have been working on this for two years to try and piece together the details leading up to the collision. There were members of the public in the area at the time of the collision who we haven’t been able to identify and who haven’t spoken to us. We’d urge anyone who was a witness to please come forward, even the smallest bit of information could make a difference in this investigation.” Specialist officers have continued to support Mr Jadwidzic’s family throughout the investigation. His wife, Mariola, said, “The death of Jaroslaw has had a huge impact on my life because I lost one of the most important people to me, what I feel every day is indescribable. I want justice for what happened and for those responsible to admit to what they have done. If you know or saw what happened, please come forward and tell the police.”
On the day of the collision, a man believed to have been in the vehicle was arrested near the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was later released with no further action. Two additional males were arrested in connection with the incident—one on Monday, 16 October 2023, and another on Thursday, 14 December 2023. Both individuals have been released under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 or online, quoting CAD 1496/15OCT2023.
