Detectives believe they know identity of woman critically injured
May 13, 2024 Detectives investigating a road traffic collision in Southall in which a woman was critically injured have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder. The victim was walking near the junction of Healum Avenue with Merrick Road just after midnight on Thursday, 9 May when she was hit by a vehicle which failed to stop. The police earlier made an appeal to identify the woman, who is in her twenties, but they now believe they know who she is and are attempting to notify her next of kin as she continues to fight for her life. The arrest was made on Friday (10 May) and the 31-year-old man detained remains in custody. Detective Superintendent Rebecca Reeves said, "Though an arrest has been made, we still need to hear from anyone who might have seen events leading up to and at the time of the collision. "The woman was dressed in light coloured bottoms, light coloured top and wearing sandals. If you saw her around the area please contact us, especially if you have dash or doorbell camera footage - it could prove vital for us." Any witnesses or anyone who can assist the investigation are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 82/09MAY. You can also provide information 100 per cent anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
