Christmas Panto Returns to The Questors After Three Years |
|
King Arthur and the Twelfth Knight combines legend with Shakespearian comedy It’s panto season again at The Questors with a new adaptation by award-winning playwright James Rushbrooke: King Arthur and the Twelfth Knight. For the first time in three years, the venue’s annual Pantomime is being staged before Christmas. There was no show in December in 2020 when it was cancelled entirely and the 2021 production was pushed back due to lockdown measures. The show combines the famous legend with that of Shakespeare’s iconic comedy, Twelfth Night (but without any of the iambic pentameter). The result is King Arthur and the Twelfth Knight, set in Drayton Court. The story explores the journey of Esme, a headstrong young woman determined to become the Twelfth Knight of King Arthur’s round table. So, she hatches a clever plan to swap identities with happy-go-lucky kitchen boy Ivor Sideways. The Questors strongly advise booking your tickets early, to avoid missing out. The Questors Artistic Director, Alex Marker said, “After two years of uncertainty, it feels momentous to be once again staging our beloved pantomime over Christmas. This year we will be staging a new script by Papatango award-winning playwright James Rushbrooke, so this promises to be a memorable production. Oh yes, it does!” King Arthur and the Twelfth Knight runs from 8 - 31 December. See The Questors website for times. There will be 2 socially distanced performances, on Thursday 15 and Sunday 18 December. Standard tickets are £14 with Questors members paying £7 for themselves and £10 for their guests. Under sixteens and full-time students pay £7 and other concessions are £12. Tickets for the final two shows cost £18. You can book your tickets online or by calling the box office on 020 8567 5184. It is open between 11am-1pm Monday-Friday and 6.30pm-8.30pm Tuesday-Friday). Also on at The Questors The Remarkable Theatrical Adventures of Peregrine Proteus Set in 19th-century England, this rip-roaring new play tracks the life of an actor, from birth to stardom - and all the obstacles in between. Along the way, we meet a series of eccentric thespians, from inept performers to dotting romantics. This comic production boasts songs, fast-paced multi-rolling, and a Christmas finale to make history.
