A woman needed to be rescued from a second floor flat this Monday (20 September) when a fire broke out on Northfield Avenue in West Ealing.

London Fire Brigade fire fighters used an extendible nine metre ladder to reach her after the blaze started in flats above a shop.

She was treated at the scene along with two other men who had got out of the building before the Fire Brigade arrived.

Part of the first floor of a six-roomed flat was damaged by fire.

The fire was discovered by a resident who could smell burning and raised the alarm.

The Brigade was called at 10.47pm and the fire was under control less than an hour later. Fire crews from Ealing, Acton and Southall fire stations attended the scene.

The fire is believed to have been accidental but the exact cause has been recorded as undetermined.
