A man was taken to hospital suffering with smoke inhalation and two others were treated at the scene following a fire in Greenford this Monday (9 August).

The Fire Brigade were called to Oldfield Road South at 9.50am with fire crews from Southall, Ealing, Northolt and Wembley fire stations at the scene.

In all 25 firefighters and four fire engines attended and had the incident under control by 11.24am.

Part of a flat on the first and second floor, above a shop, was damaged by the fire.

The fire was discovered when a neighbouring shop worker smelled burning and saw smoke.

The Brigade was called at 0950 and the fire was under control by 1124.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
