The woman charged with murdering her daughter has appeared at the Old Bailey.

41-year-old Martina Madarova is accused of killing 5-year-old Alijah Thomas at their home in Leyborne Road on 14 September.

Appearing in custody via video link Mrs Madarova, who is originally from Slovakia, entered no plea having given no comment when arrested. No application for bail was made

The hearing on 19 September was told that preliminary investigations suggest that the girl died from ‘compression on the neck’.

The police were called to the house in West Ealing at 12:56pm following concerns for the welfare of the occupants.

Attempts were made to revive the girl by London Ambulance Service paramedics but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Mrs Madarova is now due to appear again at the Old Bailey on 6 December.
