Detectives investigating the death of a five-year-old girl in Ealing have charged her mother with murder. The victim has been now named as Alijah Thomas.

41-year-old Martina Madarova, of Leyborne Avenue, W13, was charged on Wednesday, 15 September and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 16 September.

She is believed to be the same woman arrested at the scene of the death of the child at Leyborne Avenue on Tuesday, 14 September although the woman arrested was originally described by police as being aged 31.

The police were called to the house at 12:56pm following concerns for the welfare of the occupants.

Attempts were made to revive the girl by London Ambulance Service paramedics but she was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination is due to take place this Thursday.
