Library protest demonstration at Town Hall

There’s a demonstration tomorrow evening protesting against the Council plans to close seven of our libraries. It starts at 6pm at the Town Hall, ahead of the full council meeting. All support welcome.I’m informed by Private Eye that our civic leaders will be featuring in this week’s edition in the Rotten Boroughs section. Just fancy that! Out tomorrow!!

Has organised homophobia come to Ealing?

Muslim protests against the No Outsiders programme that began in schools in Birmingham spread due to activists operating on the internet.  The headmistress of one school has been the victim of a vile hate campaign on social media:  Was she a “dyke” was one of their questions.  That is homophobic hate speech.  And I believe this movement is rooted in homophobia.    The activists publish template letters on the internet for parents to send to schools.  An investigation by BBC Newsnight stated that SCHOOLS IN EALING HAVE RECEIVED SUCH LETTERS. I have asked the senior officer at Ealing Council responsible for schools to investigate the matter and let me know whether the No Outsiders programme is operating in all schools in Ealing to which it is relevant and to name those in which it is not.  If religiously motivated homophobia is being fomented in the Borough, we have a right to know where and by whom.

Recommendation needed

Have any of you have any recommendation for "a man with a van" type person, to clear out some bits of furniture from my mums flat, just off Pitshanger Lane.We need to make a bit more space, as just had a hospital type bed and areclining chair fitted, as she is not very mobile.An armchair, couple of dining chairs, a cabinet, and possibly few otherbits of furniture, need to go. Don't think they're much good foranything like Heart foundation shop.

Teresa MaY DID TRY HER BESTHer team of Ministers thought only of claiming the limelight and took every opportunity to make life difficult when dealing with the EU.The EU could not have the courage to exploit WITH their enexpected helpers among the Conservatives and took the position of belittling the UK into the pleading FOR A WORKABLE DEAL. Now let us see whether the  same ministers appear smart enough to do better. MY admiration for Teresa MaY IS AS HIGH AS IT COULD BE.

Ealing Spends Over £37 Million A Year on Temporary Housing

Ref the article on this web site's front page.£37M to accommodate approx 2,200 people breaks down to approx £17k per person per year and £1,400 per person per month. These figures seem about right for a two bed flat or small house but per person seems excessive.Or am I missing something?

Ealing Council Aim to Prosecute over Tree  Vandalism

I read with interest the thoughts of the council and the police over the felling of a tree in South Ealing. Have the council considered the recent felling of a big mature tree on the north side of the Uxbridge Road in Hanwell value say £18,000 on the boundary of the Children's Centre? Someone said it had root disease unspecified.A near neighbour across the Uxbridge Road valued at £25,000 is to meet a similar fate this time through the planning committee that granted planning permission for the Peugeot site along with permission to fell this tree. Have the developers paid this money to Ealing? Would it go some way to helping save Hanwell Library?The apparent inconsistency of all this makes me weep,weep,weep.

EU  elections rigged . Electoral commission informed before

Ealing results completely bucked the whole country! Ealing Council only sent voting cards to Labour supporters ,and destroyed mor voting cards than any other borough mostly  for two  Xs. The whole thing stinks  . The electoral commission are investigating , especially as council staff reported rigging concerns before the election .

The moral character of Julian Bell: an open letter to the leader

Dear Julian Bell,I wrote to you (3.3.19) asking you to apologise for the virulent strain of anti-semitism in the Labour Party.  You have failed to respond.   You appear to be indifferent to the issue.  My neighbours and I are aware that you habitually fail to respond to correspondence that is “difficult” or probing in any way, aware too of the flaccid-principled, fellow-travelling character of the Ealing Labour Party - who could forget the “slobocracy” of the Cudmore days - but this is a matter of fundamental moral significance and I hoped that might shame you into replying.  No reply.  No shame.  “Dumb and indifferent” will not do.  To fail to condemn is to condone.  It is for the people of Ealing to decide what that makes of you. Your behaviour is now compounded by a matter raised in a recent contribution to the Ealing Today Forum (Gordon Southwell 24/04/19. He drew attention to the fact that, while Ealing Council had expressed sympathy for the Muslims murdered by a white Australian in New Zealand, it did not express sympathy for the Christians murdered by Muslims in Sri Lanka.  I can still not find any such statement and therefore find this a shocking demonstration of a religiously discriminatory policy in the way the Council doles out sympathy.   I struggle to explain it. With the demise of Ealing Cycles in Bond Street can anyone recommend a local bicycle repair shop?Preferably not a Halfords or Evans cycles (though I must add I have had no bad experiences of either) but an independent or small family business.
