Questors Theatre in Ealing is set to host a varied programme of touring productions this autumn, featuring solo performances that span historical retrospectives, autobiographical storytelling, classical adaptation, and science-infused illusion. The schedule reflects a growing trend among regional venues to showcase compact, touring works that blend entertainment with thematic depth.

On Tuesday 30 September, An Evening of (Very) Old Radio brings writer and broadcaster Paul Kerensa to the stage with a solo show exploring the early days of British broadcasting. Drawing on archival material and personal experience within the BBC, Kerensa traces the development of radio from its experimental origins to its institutional establishment. The show includes historical anecdotes, recovered scripts, and commentary on the evolution of public media. Recommended for ages 12+, the performance runs for 110 minutes including an interval.

The following night, Wednesday 1 October, Life With Oscar arrives for a one-night engagement. Performed by Nick Cohen, the autobiographical piece recounts the artist’s time living in Los Angeles under the mentorship of a double Oscar-winning filmmaker. The production, which has toured internationally, blends humour and introspection to examine ambition, identity, and the precarious nature of creative careers. The show runs for 85 minutes without an interval and carries a 15+ age advisory.

From Thursday 2 to Saturday 4 October, King Lear is reimagined by Oddbodies Theatre Company in a one-man adaptation performed by Paul Morel. Framed through the eyes of Lear’s fool, the production uses minimal props and physical theatre techniques to condense the tragedy into a 90-minute format. It aims to make the story accessible while retaining its emotional complexity. Suitable for ages 12+, performances begin nightly at 7:30pm.

Closing the programme on Thursday 9 October, Unbelievable Magic for Non-Believers features physicist-turned-performer Kevin Quantum in a show that merges scientific principles with illusion. Designed to challenge scepticism and provoke curiosity, the performance includes sleight-of-hand, stunts, and audience interaction. The show runs for 110 minutes including an interval and is recommended with parental guidance due to occasional mild language.

All performances take place at 7:30pm in Questors’ Judi Dench Playhouse. The programme reflects a commitment to diverse storytelling formats and offers audiences opportunities to engage with contemporary and classical themes through live performance.
