New branch would be at former National Tyres site
February 4, 2026 Majestic Wine has submitted a formal planning application to transform a currently vacant industrial unit in Ealing into a brand-new retail branch. The proposal focuses on the site of the former National Tyres located at 92-96 St Mary's Road, Ealing (W5 5EN). The application seeks a change of use for the building from its previous industrial function as a tyre-fitting centre to a retail store. As part of this transition, the developer plans to undertake significant external alterations to modernise the building's appearance. These changes include replacing the existing industrial-style shutters with large glazed windows and installing new entrance doors to create a traditional retail frontage. Furthermore, the site infrastructure will be upgraded with a new bin store, a dedicated plant area, and modernized parking and cycle storage facilities. The planning statement highlights that this project will revitalize a vacant site, create local employment opportunities, and stimulate inward investment within the Ealing community. Given its location within the Ealing Green Conservation Area, the project has been designed with sensitivity toward the surrounding historic environment. The site is situated immediately adjacent to the Grade II listed Westfield House, which is home to the Ealing Conservative Club, and sits diagonally opposite the Grade II* listed St Mary's Church. The applicant argues that the proposed design will enhance the visual quality of the streetscape by removing utilitarian industrial features and replacing them with high-quality glazing that complements the character of the neighbouring heritage assets. The application can be found on the Ealing Council Public Access Portal by searching for the planning reference 260134FUL. To submit a representation, users should navigate to the council's planning search page, enter the reference number, and select the "Comments" tab within the application record before 19 February.
