An attempt is being made to convert office space above the Ealing Broadway Shopping centre to residential use.

The proposed development would see 148 build-to-rent flats on the second third and fourth floors of International House at 7 High Street (W5 5DB).

As the application (251339PACBSD) is being made under permitted development rules, none of the accommodation would be classed as affordable. There would be 25 studio flats, 58 one-bed (2-person) flats and 65 two-bed flats (3- and 4-person).

The office space in the building is vacant and has been stripped out to a shell condition. The flats would be centred around the existing triple height glass atrium and include private landscape gardens.

The private car park on the first floor is also part of the scheme and is the subject of a separate planning application which will see EV charging bays added.

The applicant is a company called High St W5 2025 Limited, the sole director of which is chartered surveyor Nick Treadaway.

The site is within the Ealing Town Centre Conservation Area but not listed or under Article 4 Direction which would prevent conversion from office use.

Comments on the proposal can be made by visiting the planning section of the Ealing Council web site and searching using the reference given above.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
