A second attempt is being made to convert an office block in the centre of Ealing into flats.

An application (250258PACBSD) has been submitted for a change of use on five floors of Craven House on Uxbridge Road to allow conversion into 75 self-contained flats.

The identity of the applicant is not given on the documents published on Ealing Council’s web site although a postcode supplied is for the headquarters of estate agents Savills.

A previous application (243024PACBSD) submitted by Greeneedle Ltd sought permission for a change of use to convert the building to 81 flats. Council officers determined that prior approval would be unlawful and refused the application.

Craven House offered flexible office space with parking close to the junction with St. Leonard’s Road.

A decision is expected soon on plans for the nearby Exchange Plaza site where an application has been submitted for a 20-storey high student accommodation block.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.
