Ealing Save Our NHS sets up stalls in town centre March 12, 2024 A local group campaigning for more support for the National Health Service joined a nation Day of Acton this weekend. Members of the Ealing Save Our NHS group set up stalls in several central Ealing locations on Saturday (9 March) to raise awareness of the ‘Restore Our NHS’ event organised by Keep Our NHS Public. It was also an opportunity for the group to make sure local shoppers were aware of the North West London NHS plan to divert Same Day GP appointments away from surgeries and on to telephone hubs, mainly staffed by non-doctors. This has now been postponed following strong objections from campaigners, patient groups and GPs themselves. Weekend shoppers queued up to sign postcards to send to their MP. Oliver New, Chair of Ealing Save Our NHS said, “Our NHS is a vital part of our lives; we all need it, starting from birth. It’s imperative that the NHS is funded to work properly, not underfunded to fail. In Ealing and elsewhere, pretty much all sections of the NHS, from A&Es to Maternity to Dentistry to GPs, are under-resourced in recent years and staff put under an unacceptable level of pressure.”
