Members being offered free period with Picturehouse
May 20, 2025 The Ealing Project has confirmed ‘with a heavy heart’ that it is to close on Sunday 1 June. The widely rumoured announcement was confirmed in a post on its social media accounts. It said that they remained ‘positive about the future’ and hoped that the Ealing Project will return in one form or another. It said, “We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years. The community that we have built is truly special and we can’t thank you all enough!” The venue will be showing films including Lilo and Stitch and the new Mission Impossible over the May half term holiday. People who have purchased memberships with the Ealing Project are to be offered a free 150-day membership with the Picturehouse group which will be available from the day after the closure until the end of July. Members should received instructions by email The prospects for the venue looked bleak after The Really Local Group, which opened The Ealing Project, put the company which owned it into administration. It is understood that the cinema was being run by the liquidator in the hope that a buyer would be found but none appears to have been forthcoming. Designed to be ‘more than just a cinema’, The Ealing Project sought to become cultural destination by staging a wide range of community events, arts and live performances as well as food and drink. However, the launch of the much delayed Picturehouse venue in the Filmworks development is widely believed to have impacted its revenues.
