December 15, 2022 St Augustine’s Priory has appointed Mrs Christine Macallister as its new Headteacher from April 2023. The school says she was selected from a strong national field of candidates who went through a rigorous selection process. She has worked in Business and teaching for several years and is currently Deputy Head Academic of the Senior School having come to the school in 2013. She therefore has experience in building and leading teams from diverse backgrounds and is Chair of the Society of Heads’ Deputy Heads’ Committee, working closely with colleagues around the country, sharing best practice and gaining detailed insight into the problems and opportunities in education today. Mrs Macallister is also an independent member of AQA’s Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee, providing her with a detailed understanding of current and future initiatives in public examinations. Over the past twelve years Mrs Macallister has taught Business and Economics and joined St Augustine’s Priory in 2013. In her role as Deputy Head Academic, she has been responsible for leading the academic life of the school during one of the most turbulent periods of recent history, the COVID pandemic. Aside from her academic contribution to the life of St Augustine’s Priory, Mrs Macallister is a talented musician and is an active member of the Music Department. She demonstrates a great commitment to the Catholic life of the school and, in her words, ‘I am committed to this extraordinary school and ensuring that it continues to build on its inspirational mission and purpose. I strongly believe that the girls in our school are given a unique opportunity to thrive in a Catholic community which encourages personal and spiritual growth, as well as academic excellence - the springboard for them to change the world.’
