Oaklands Primary pupil wins diploma for exceptional academic potential
Prisha from Oaklands Primary in Hanwell has just received her Bright Sparks diploma and a goody bag from Latymer Upper School. Bright Sparks is a free programme run by Latymer Upper School for Year 5 students who show exceptional academic potential. Each year, teachers from Latymer’s Maths, English and Science departments run sessions for bright and curious-minded children from local primary schools in the area. The emphasis of the workshops is on mini-projects, creativity and hands-on practical challenges giving the children a fun and interactive experience of secondary school learning, and an introduction to the level of requirements for the 11+ exams set by selective schools like Latymer. This year due to Covid-19 restrictions the programme had to be run entirely online, but it didn’t stop Prisha and her peers having a great time. Latymer Upper School’s Autumn Open Days will take place on Saturday 11 September and Saturday 2 October 2021 for those who are interested in registering their child to sit the 11+ entrance exam in January 2022.
