Discount retailer Lidl has confirmed that its new store in West Ealing will launch later this month in the unit previously occupied by Wilko.

The supermarket on The Broadway, will serve its first customer on Thursday 20 February with the existing site across the road shutting the previous day.

At 1,371m², the new store will be three times the size of its predecessor which has been operating for over 14 years.

It will have the same opening hours – 8am to 9pm, Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 5pm on Sundays. To mark the occasion, customers will be able to enjoy exclusive Lidl Plus offers and complimentary food sampling throughout the opening weekend.

The new shop has an in-store bakery and will have a Middle of Lidl aisle with the company saying that all the staff at the existing store will be staying with ten new jobs created.

Grant Shulton, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, said, “Our previous site on The Broadway has served the West Ealing community for nearly 15 years, so we’re thrilled to be able to offer an enhanced shopping experience just across the road. We can’t wait to welcome both new and loyal customers through the doors as we’re confident they’ll love their new Lidl as much as we do.”
