Blaze started in vehicle workshop on Boston Road
November 10, 2024 Fifty people had to leave their homes in Hanwell this Sunday morning (10 November) after a fire broke out in a vehicle workshop. The Fire Brigade received the first of 15 calls about the fire on Boston Road just down from the Clocktower at 5:04am. Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were sent including crews from Ealing, Southall, Acton and surrounding fire stations. One person living above the workshop had to be rescued with a ladder and people in other buildings nearby were told to leave by the police with firefighters concerned about the possibility of one of the three vehicles and gas cylinders in the workshop exploding. In the event there were no reports of any injuries. It took two hours for firefighters to be confident that the scene was safe after they cooled the cylinders down and the incident led to heavy traffic around the junction of Boston Road and the A4020 will remain impacted as we begin to leave the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
