Ten People Rescued from Southall Warehouse Fire

Ten people had to be rescued by firefighters after a fire broke out at a warehouse in Norwood Road in Southall this Wednesday morning (9 October). There are no reports of any injuries.
The first call of around forty about the blaze was received at 6:50am and ten fire engines and around 70 fire fighters from Southall, Heston, Hayes and surrounding fire stations were sent to the scene.
At the time of writing, the Fire Brigade says it has the fire under control but part of the first floor of the two-storey building remains alight.
A 32-metre turntable ladder is also being used at the scene as an observation tower, helping to provide the Incident Commander with a greater situational awareness of the incident.
Local residents are being advised to continue keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke in the area.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "The fire has been producing a significant amount of smoke in the area.
"Although the level of smoke has reduced as firefighters work to extinguish the bulk of the fire, we would continue to ask local residents to keep their windows and doors closed and stay indoors where possible.
"Some road closures are also in place and we advise that drivers avoid the Norwood Road area due to heavy traffic congestion.
"The fire is under control but firefighters are expected to remain on scene for much of the day extinguishing hotspots."
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
