A local man has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of 33-year-old Dariusz Serafin in Hanwell last year.
Detectives were called at around 10.15pm on Monday, 10 February 2025, after Mr Serafin stumbled into the Grosvenor pub in Oaklands Road seeking assistance after receiving severe knife injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers believe Mr Serafin was attacked near the junction of Sydney Road and Regina Road before making his way to Oaklands Road to seek help.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed this Thursday, following extensive enquiries over the past year, homicide detectives arrested Fayne Newman, 32, of Humes Avenue, Hanwell, on Monday, 9 February. He has now been charged with murder and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
Mr Serafin’s family paid tribute to him shortly after his death, describing him as a man “known for his boundless empathy and loving spirit for people and animals” whose kindness “touched everyone he met”. They urged the public to help end “senseless knife crime” and to assist in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
Detectives continue to appeal for information. At the time of the killing, officers asked anyone who was in the area between 8.30pm and 10.30pm on the night of the attack to check any footage that might assist the investigation.
The Met said its enquiries remain ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 7176/10FEB25, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
