British Transport Police has issued CCTV images after a man boarded a train at South Ealing Underground Station shortly before a serious assault on the Piccadilly Line.

The incident took place at around 2pm on Firday 9 January. The victim had joined an eastbound service at South Ealing when he was approached by a man who offered him alcohol. After the victim declined, the man became abusive and aggressive.

The situation escalated when the train reached Hammersmith. As the victim left the service, the same man struck him on the head with a wine bottle, which shattered on impact. The victim suffered deep cuts and required emergency medical treatment.

Detectives believe the man who boarded the train at South Ealing and appears in the released CCTV images may have information that could assist their enquiries.
