A 54-year-old man from Southall has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found in The Green Quarter in Southall.

The police were called to the recently completed flat on Samara Drive at 10:56am on Wednesday 23 April by paramedics from London Ambulance Service concerned for the a welfare of a man.

A man in his sixties was found deceased at the address. It is not known how long he had been dead for, but the arrested man was also detained on suspicion of preventing a lawful burial. He remains in custody.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man’s next of kin.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, who is leading the investigation, said, “We are in the very early stages of our investigation and my team of experienced detectives and forensic specialists are working at pace to establish the circumstances of this death.

“I can understand that this may be concerning for the community in Southall, who can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as we begin our investigation.

“Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call police on 101 providing the reference CAD2369/23APR.

“Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
