There was a dramatic turn of events at the Old Bailey this week in the trial of three brothers accused of murdering a 39-year-old man in Ealing.

40-year-old Cleveland McEntee of Henchman Street in White City, 42-year-old Leon Woods of Cherry Close in Ealing, and 35-year-old Tron McEntee of Jubilee Road in Perivale had all been facing a murder charge for their part in the death of Mark Barrs at the Old Hat pub on 6 April last year.

The prosecution, which had presented evidence showing the timeline between an initial dispute over a chair between a group including Mr Barrs and Leon Woods, inside the pub and the fatal stabbing in a courtyard at the rear, was just concluding its case when the court was told that new pleas were being entered.

After the initial confrontation between Woods and the other group, he made calls to his two brothers who later joined him in the pub. Mr Barrs was found with a knife wound to the chest after the brawl outside the pub and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cleveland McEntee, who the prosecution said had been shown in footage with an object in his right hand just prior to the killing, admitted murder with Leon Woods pleading guilty to manslaughter. Tron McEntee confessed to violent disorder. The jury was directed to clear Woods and Tron McEntee of the murder charge and accept the new pleas.

The three brothers are due to hear their sentences on Tuesday 11 March.
