A Greenford pub is being praised for bringing residents together to raise more than £22,000 for local causes over the past year, helping its parent company reach a nationwide £1 million charity milestone for the second year running.

The Greenford Arms, operated by Hayleigh McNamara as part of the Craft Union Pub Company, has become a hub for community fundraising, supporting families, schools, care homes and local charities through a packed calendar of events and volunteer-led initiatives. The pub’s efforts form part of Craft Union’s “Make It A Million” campaign, which sees pubs across the UK raise money for causes close to their communities.

Among the standout moments of the past year was a large Easter collection organised by the pub, which saw customers and staff donate more than 200 chocolate eggs to residents at a local care home. Many of the recipients had never received an Easter gift before, creating what McNamara described as a “heart-warming moment” for everyone involved.

The pub also played a central role in raising £15,000 for a local man diagnosed with terminal cancer. With the man unable to work and his family struggling to cover bills, the Greenford Arms rallied the community through charity nights, raffles, hampers and golf days. The money raised helped the family focus on spending meaningful time together without financial pressure.

At Christmas, the pub hosted its popular Santa event, complete with a snow machine, gifts for every child and volunteers from across the community. The festive day raised more than £400 for a local school and brought families together during one of the busiest times of the year.

Alongside these headline events, the Greenford Arms has supported a wide range of smaller initiatives, from fun days and raffles to winter coat collections and overnight shelters. The pub has also worked closely with the local church, helping raise more than £10,000 through joint fundraising and volunteering.

The team has stepped in to support individuals too. When a much-loved regular, Maureen, was diagnosed with cancer and wished to celebrate her 80th birthday at the pub, staff organised a special party in her honour. The event raised more than £600 for cancer charities, and the team later supported her family during her final days.

Hayleigh McNamara said the pub’s success is down to the generosity and spirit of its customers. “Being part of the community isn’t just about the money you raise, it’s about the impact you make and how you show up for people when they need it most. None of this happens without our customers and volunteers, who give their time, energy and kindness all year round. My team and I are so proud to be part of the Greenford family.”

The Greenford Arms’ contribution helped Craft Union Pub Company raise more than £1.35 million for charities nationwide, surpassing the £1 million mark for the second consecutive year.
