A new showroom in West Ealing is to be launched later this month to promote employment opportunities for those that have been diagnosed with a learning disability.

Ealing Mencap runs the Dare to Dream placement programme and the facility will raise awareness of what is on offer. The launch event on Leeland Road is timed to coincide with the nearby Farmers’ Market and is taking place on Saturday 28 June from 11am to 2pm.

Mencap is the leading charity advocating for people with learning disabilities and the event will take place in the wake of ‘Learning Disability Week' which this place is Monday 16 – Sunday 22 June.

Project run by the charity achieve a strong employment success rate with typically three quarters of graduates securoing full-time jobs .

Harminder Rana, Employment and Community Services Manager at Ealing Mencap said, “The purpose for the Showroom is to empower and equip our members that attend Dare to Dream / Mencap with confidence and further their employability skills so that they can secure a job in the long term and gain control of their own lives with confidence and independence. They are also selling merchandise that has been handcrafted by the members themselves. This is not a profit making opportunity but one that will be far more valuable than money, for our members to be seen, heard and given the opportunities they deserve. “
