Police have launched a witness appeal after a 17-year-old boy was killed in a collision in Southall in the early hours of Saturday morning. Ranbir Singh died at the scene after a Ford Mustang he was travelling in crashed on South Road shortly after 1am on 19 September.

Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade, attended but were unable to save him. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A second passenger, a 26-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital. Officers say they are awaiting an update on his condition. The driver of the Mustang, a 20-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. He has since been charged and appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Detective Inspector Fiaz Janjua from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit described the incident as “truly tragic”, saying a young life had been lost and another person remained seriously injured. He offered condolences to Ranbir’s family and friends, adding that the investigation was ongoing despite the charges already brought. Officers are working to establish the full circumstances leading up to the crash and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision, the Mustang’s movements beforehand, or the manner of driving in the Southall area during the early hours of Saturday.

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV, doorbell footage, mobile phone recordings or dashcam footage that may assist the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 01/8080469/26.

The driver, named as Sukhveer Singh of Townsend Road, Southall, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using a vehicle without insurance. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on 19 October.
