Police and enforcement officers arrived at the former Peugeot garage site near the clocktower in Hanwell yesterday afternoon (Friday 11th) and the latest encampment of travellers to hit the area have now been moved on.

Photographer, Liz Jenner was on scene and witnessed the eviction. She says she spotted the enforcement officers arriving in a van at 1.40pm.

Police arrived shortly afterwards and the official procedure to move on the illegal encampment began. It's not known where they have moved on to.

Last year over 1,500 people signed a petition calling on Ealing Council to implement a borough-wide injunction on all public open spaces and other council-owned land to prevent such unauthorised encampments occurring. The Council rejected the petition saying such and approach "was not appropriate or feasible for the borough at present".

Ealing council say it is private land and therfore the responsibility of the landowner and add that any borough-wide injunction would not include private land, only council owned and public spaces.
