Safety Issues Impact Services at West Ealing Station Again |

Eastbound services suspended due to work on wall
Services have been disrupted again at West Ealing station due to safety concerns about a wall overlooking the platform used by passengers travelling to Paddington. The interruption of the service is a repeat of what happened earlier this year when demolition work at the controversial Manor Road site appeared to undermine the structural integrity of the wall. No permission had been granted for demolition to proceed and, according to local campaign group Stop The Towers (STT), Ealing Council has yet to approve the continuation of the work. There has been no apparent activity at the site for the last six months as it is understood that Ealing Council is insisting that a number of conditions, including approval for a demolition plan, need to be fulfilled first. STT claims that the main developer, Southern Grove, is seeking to dispose of its interest in the Manor Road site. Southern Grove have yet to confirm this is the case. Network Rail contractors are now on site doing further work to secure the wall. TfL originally said that that eastbound trains would not serve the platform until Thursday 7 July but the latest information is that the work is still in progress. Passengers travelling to West Ealing from stations west of it, are advised to continue to Ealing Broadway and change to the westbound Heathrow service to alight at West Ealing. If travelling from West Ealing towards Paddington, passenger should board a service to Hanwell and board the next London bound service to Ealing Broadway, Acton Main Line or Paddington. The GWR Greenford branch service is unaffected, except that the 9.51pm train from Greenford to London Paddington on Monday to Wednesday will not call at West Ealing. Trains towards Hayes & Harlington / Reading / Heathrow are stopping as normal.
