Empire has confirmed that it is fully committed to opening a new cinema in Ealing and want work to start as soon as possible.

There have been growing fears over plans for the site opposite the Town Hall which has been left a derelict eyesore for over two years.

Thousands of people have signed a petition urging the company to get on with the project.

This afternoon (Friday 11th Feb) Ealingtoday.co.uk received this statement:

"Empire cinemas can confirm that we are fully committed to the development and opening of the new cinema in Ealing.

'' A revised planning application was submitted and accepted by the council late last year, this submission added bars and restaurants to the ground floor level.

''We are currently working with the developer with a view to works commencing as soon as possible, details of which will be made available via our web site and local media "
