Eric Leach's Ealing Covid-19 Latest Update | |
What exactly is Ealing's AstraZeneca vaccine rollout plan?
Ealing’s AstraZeneca Covid-19 Vaccine Rollout Plan If any of you know what this is please get in touch. It feels very much like the current Ealing Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine rollout plan - secret or non-existent. I know of two 80 year old plus residents who have not been contacted. Another called her GP and asked when she would be contacted. The surgery said ‘Oh if you want a jab we’ll book you into Victoria Hall for a vaccination’. The lack of information on the local, regional, national vaccination programme(s) is staggering. Apparently the regional vaccination boss is a Pippa Nightingale who works for Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation. There has been no announcement as to who the Ealing Covid-19 vaccination boss is. Just to remind you, according to the latest figures there are 441,683 patients registered at the 75 Ealing GP surgeries. How many doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will each surgery receive? Ealing GP practice list sizes vary from 1,677 at Brunswick Road (St Marks) to 15,872 at Florence Road. The average list size is 5,888. Will GP surgery fridge capacity determine just how many doses will be delivered on 4 January 2021? Or will the volume of doses/surgery be so low so that this is not a factor? Who might we all ask for information? If we think it’s a Local Government Public Health matter the contact is Councillor Binda Rai who holds the Ealing Council Cabinet portfolio for Health (binda.rai@ealing.gov.uk). Or it could be Ms Wendy Meredith who is Ealing’s Director of Public Health (meredith.w@ealing.gov.uk). If we think it’s an NHS responsibility the person might be the Chair of Ealing’s Clinical Commissioning Group (ECCG) - Dr Mohini Parmar (mohini.parmar@nhs.net). Or it could be ECCG’s Chief Executive Ms Neha Unadkat (nunadkat@nhs.net). I’m afraid you will look in vain to find the plan on any public web site. I have emailed all these people today and asked them to place in the public domain the vaccination plan for Ealing and details of who is in charge. So that I have a chance of any reply, I’ve made the email a Freedom of Information request to both Ealing Council and the NHS. Dominion Centre Southall is an Ealing Covid-19 Vaccination Centre I know of at least one 80+ year old Ealing resident who has been given an appointment for a Covid-19 vaccination at the Dominion Centre at Southall Green. Ealing’s Covid-19 Infection Rates Stay High I’ve tracked infection rates in Ealing over the last eight days and they have mostly been rising. On 4 January 2021 the rate for Ealing was 857.8/100,000. The highest rate I could find in Ealing was Cuckoo Park in Hanwell at 929. The highest rate in London is Barking & Dagenham at 1,476 and the lowest is Islington at 725. Sign Up and Train as a Vaccinator Apparently it’s a very bureaucratic process applying, but here is where you go to find out and here too. There have been many complaints about how time consuming it is to fill in all the various application forms. The Government says it will simplify the process. Johnson’s 10 Million Vaccinations by Mid-February 2021 Target is Hardly Believable That’s over 1.6 million vaccinations each week. Do we have enough vaccines, vaccinators and vaccination venues to achieve this? Surely we’ll need 24x7 vaccination venues to pull this off. Warren Farm Nature Reserve I always like to have some good news to impart and this time it’s a stunning, new web site and campaign to designate Warren Farm and surrounding open space as a Nature Reserve. In October 2019 Brent River & Canal Society (BRCS) launched its vision for Warren Farm Nature Reserve and surrounding Brent River meadows. To find out more and to get involved see www.warrenfarmnaturereserve.co.uk. As yet Ealing Council has not responded to the BRCS proposal. Eric Leach eric.alan.leach@gmail.com
