An Ealing teacher has participated in a cross-channel swim to raise money for a breast cancer charity.

This Sunday (8 October), Fiona Johnson who works at St Augustine’s Priory, Ealing Catholic Independent school for girls, and her fellow members of the SwimSolutions Starfish relay team completed the feat.

The team swam from Dover to Calais in sixteen hours and six minutes. Each swimmer took it in turns to swim for an hour and then jump back on the pilot boat to warm up, eat and rest before jumping in to swim again.

Ms Johnson’s also completed the cross-continental swim across the Bosphorus in August. One of her colleagues at St Augustine’s Priory commented, ‘Fiona is truly inspirational. With only two years training, to take on this challenge and succeed shows such determination. We’re in awe!’
