Two applications for exceptionall tall 5G masts in the Ealing area are meeting opposition from residents.

CK Hutchison Networks (UK) have applied (223706PNT) to erect a 15-metre-high mast next to Ealing Common on the junction of Elm Avenue and Elm Grove Road. The mast would be in a conservation and area and could be in place by the end of the year if approval was given. It would be nearly as tall as the nearby trees and there would be more cabinets at its base

The telecoms company say that a structure in this area is required to ensure connectivity for its customers and other sites had been considered and ruled out.

The consultation on the plan is due to end on 5 October. If you wish to comment click here and if the link or any other to the Ealing planning web pages doesn’t work first time try it again. So far 8 people have objected.

The second application (223754PNT) is for a 16 metre 5G mast at the Quadrant, the junction of South Ealing Road and Popes Lane, outside L’oro di Napoli and Roddy’s Bar. 33 objections have been received against this application which is for the Three network.

The applicant states, “Proposed location of a new mast shown above will assimilate well into the immediate street scene and not be detrimental. The proposed site option is considered the best available compromise between extending 5G service across the target ‘coverage hole’ with the selected street works pole height and associated antenna and ground-based cabinets restricted to the minimum height which is capable of providing the required essential coverage.”
