An Ealing home care company boss is urging people to come onboard as he aims to build an army of caregivers to provide support in the local community. He describes caring as ‘a job of the future’.

Tony Hussain of Home Instead currently has 75 vacancies at his care company which has clients across Ealing, Hounslow, Brentford, Isleworth and Hayes. Home Instead provides care in the clients home rather than in a residential facility.

He says that jobs in his sector are future-proof, referring to the resilience of care work against a backdrop of sectors such as hospitality and travel that have been so badly impacted by the pandemic. With the end of the government’s furlough scheme more people are out of work. With an ageing population, home care, on the other hand, has seen a huge increase in demand, so much so that there is a national shortage of caregivers.

The UK has an ageing population with over 14.28 million baby boomers who are coming into older age over the next few years. The millennial generation follows a close second at 14.22 million people. At the same time, we are living longer.

Commenting, Mr Hussain, said, “At Home Instead, we recognise the importance of the home, which is why we specialise in the care of older people in their own homes; a rapidly growing demographic. The increase in demand for our services, due to raised awareness and the safe option it provides when a loved one needs support, means we have a shortage of people to fill the roles needed to deliver the care.

“We are looking for individuals who are searching for a rewarding career with many opportunities to progress. No experience is necessary, as we provide all the training needed.”

Training manager, Caroline Corcoran, joined Home Instead in 2011 as a caregiver, said, “Home Instead had the ethos that I wanted from a care company, therefore I happily joined them as a caregiver. I enjoyed the work and the one-hour client visits are perfect. I had wonderful relationships with my clients, and overall, I loved my caregiver journey.

“I am now a training manager after working here for 10 years. I deliver induction training, including basic first aid and manual handling to all the new caregivers that want to join Home Instead. I love my training job and can relate many stories to the new candidates, which makes my training sessions interesting and real.”

Mr Hussain continued, “Every year, our sector is growing, demonstrating the huge job security working in the care sector brings. If someone is looking for job security, then I’d urge them to look at home care.”

It is estimated that the adults social care sector in England has approximately 112,000 unfilled vacancies at any one time.

Home Instead is a national company with 10,000 caregiver vacancies to fill in the coming two years. For more information on the 75 vacancies in Ealing, call 020 80223440 or click here.
