The YMCA on St Mary's Road in Ealing has been raided by police in response to complaints about an increase in anti-social behaviour, violence and drug abuse in the area.

Officers from Ealing Common Safer Neighbourhoods Team, together with the Territorial Support Group (TSG) Ealing Police, Problem Solving Team and the specialist drugs dog unit were involved in the operation.

A total of 15 rooms were raided. Two men, ages 31 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug and cannabis.

One currently remains in custody pending further enquiries and the other has received a caution. A further four men aged 23, 21, 19 and 25 were arrested and taken in for questioning for a serious assault that happened at Warrick Road a few months ago.

“Sergeant Adeyinka from Ealing Common Safer Neighbourhood team, said:
“This morning's operation clearly demonstrates our commitment in dismantling criminal networks and taking harmful drugs off the streets. We are here for the residents of Ealing and do listen and take positive action to deter criminal activity in areas of public concern.

'' This operation is another example that Ealing Police and its partners are getting tough on crime and arresting perpetrators involved in crime. We are very grateful to the staff at the YMCA for their stand against criminal activity and have co-operated fully with police during this operation.

''They have verified that they will also be evicting two residents as a result of this morning’s police activity”
