A 22-year-old man from Ealing has been found guilty of killing a man who had let a group of people into his home thinking he was going to be participating in an orgy.

Sakeen Gordon of Uxbridge Road was convicted of murder by a 10 to one majority and conspiracy to rob at St Albans Crown Court this week. He was one of a group of three men and two women found guilty of killing 44-year-old Vishal Gohel at his flat in Bushey in Hertfordshire on 23 January 2022.

Another member of the gang Yarley Bruce-Annan had made contact with Mr Gohel through Craig’s List, a web site on which goods and services are offered. The jury at the trial were informed that Mr Gohel had been told that he was going to be having a sexual liaison with three women.

Three women from Barking did arrive at his flat at 1am but three men including Gordon turned up later at 2:25am. They had driven to Hertfordshire in a car owned by Tevin Leslie who was Gordon’s cousin and who made a detour to Ealing to pick him up on the way. Mr Gohel was then beaten up and gagged with no attempt to ring the emergency services.

Mr Gohel was found by a neighbour who had noticed his door had been left open at 10:45pm the same day. He was lying on the floor of his bedroom with gaffer tape over his face and was pronounced dead at the scene. A postmortem later determined that the cause of death was a number of severe blows to the head.

A forensics team analysed the flat and found that an attempt had been made to clean the scene. Several items had been taken including £200 cash, an iPhone and an iWatch.

Four of the gang were arrested two weeks after the killing with Gordon being detained on Friday 11 February 2022 along with another member.

As well as Gordon, Yarley Bruce-Annan, 22, of Harts Lane in Barking and Tevin Leslie, 23, of Brixton, were convicted of murder having earlier admitted a charge of conspiracy to rob.

Brandon Browne, 22, of Laburnham Road, Rochester, and Faith Hoppie, 22, of Blake Avenue, Barking, were convicted of manslaughter and conspiracy to rob.

A sixth defendant, 20-year-old Tiana Edwards Hancock, 20, of Fresh Wharf Road, Barking, was cleared of all charges.

Those convicted will be sentenced at St Albans Crown Court on 26 September.
