A 38-year-old man from Perivale has been jailed for 15 years after being convicted of stabbing a man in the throat in West Ealing last year.

Abdirizaq Mohamed of Perriwood Crescent had pleaded not guilty on 24 September at Harrow Crown Court to GBH with intent, ABH and possession of a bladed article.

On Monday 1 July 2019, the police and other emergency services including an air ambulance were called to reports of a fight on Manor Road.

Officers from Emergency Response Team A, based at Ealing, were first on scene where they stopped Mohammed walking away. They noticed the tip of a knife which was hidden under his t-shirt. He was disarmed and a large kitchen knife was seized.

It was established that Mohamed had stabbed another male in throat and he was arrested for attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He was charged and remanded to Ealing Magistrates Court on 3 July 2019.

Detective Sergeant Tom Collins of the West Area Basic Command Unit, led the investigation appointing PC Mann as the officer in the case, who worked to present the case to the Crown Prosecution Service.

DS Collins said, “My officers have worked hard to ensure that the offender was brought to justice. The sentence given goes to show how seriously the criminal justice system takes incidents such as these. The Met is working around the clock to tackle violent crime, but we cannot do this alone. As in this case, it is the support of the local community that help to keep London’s streets safe. I urge anyone who may have information about those carrying weapons to tell us about it; we want to save lives. Serious violence is a priority for the Metropolitan Police and it will never be tolerated in our communities.”
