A man being sought by Lancashire police who bears a striking resemblance to the actor David Schwimmer has been arrested this Monday (12 November). The 36-year-old man was detained in Southall by the Metropolitan Police.

The suspect in a case of theft which took place in Blackpool this September was caught on CCTV. He was seen leaving a store carrying a crate of bear. He was wanted for the theft of a jacket, wallet and mobile from Mr Basrai's restaurant in Blackpool Town Centre.

Investigations by the police revealed that Mr Schwimmer, who is best known for playing the character of Ross Geller in the TV series Friends, had an alibi so he was quickly ruled out as a suspect. He was in America filming on the date of the theft.

The actor made a spoof video recreating the scene caught on the store CCTV to prove that he was out of the country at the time.

Lancashire Police thanked the Met for being there for them and said they would be there for them too.
