The victim has been named locally as Abdullahi Tarabi who lived close to the scene of the attack. He is believed to have attended the West London Academy (now Alec Reed Academy). A report in the Evening Standard states that his family were present as paramedics treated him for over an hour. They say eye-witnesses have told them how they saw the victim being chased across the road by two men.

Four men, three aged 19 and one aged 18, were initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and rearrested on suspicion of murder after the victim died.

All four currently remain in custody at separate London police stations.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, led by Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge are investigating.

DCI Partridge said: "This deplorable attack took place in broad daylight in a residential location.

"I would like to hear from anyone who saw the attack itself or witnessed anything else that may be important.

"Whilst arrests have been made we are keen to trace a man who fled the scene in the direction of Petts Hill’.
