The man arrested after a three day armed stand off in Northolt has been sectioned to allow him to be detained under the Mental Health Act.

The 46-year-old man has also been bailed to return to Acton Police Station at a date in mid-December whilst a mental health assessment is completed.

At approximately 8.10pm on this Sunday (23 October) specialist officers from the Territorial Support Group (TSG) forced access to an address on Wood End Lane. They arrested the occupant on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis, affray and offences under the explosives act and taken to a west London police station.

The man had barricaded himself into a property on Wood End Lane with what police described as ‘hazardous items' which included a quantity of petrol. London Fire Brigade were at the scene all through the incident to provide support for the TSG. Neighbours also reported that there were four Rottweiler dogs at the address.

Over 80 residents had been evacuated from their homes after a police cordon was set up in a 200m radius around the property.

Although the cordon has been removed, work is still ongoing at the address as police are still examining the crime scene, which will take some time.
