Detectives investigating the murder of Richard Bowes have made two further arrests in connection with the investigation.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of murder and four counts of burglary and 31-year-old woman on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

They remain in custody in a south London police station.

At around 22:45hrs on Monday 8 August officers in Ealing were dealing with sustained violent disorder in Springbridge Road, when they became aware of a man being attacked.

He was taken by ambulance to St Mary's Hospital where he died on 11 August.

He was Richard Bowes, 68 (22.10.42) of Haven Green, Ealing W5. He lived alone.

A post-mortem examination took place today at Uxbridge mortuary and gave cause of death as a head injury.

An incident room has opened at Sutton under Detective Chief Inspector John McFarlane (HSCC).

DCI McFarlane said: "This was a brutal incident that resulted in the senseless killing of an innocent man. I still need the assistance of the community who may have witnessed the attack on Richard, to come forward and provide information or images they may have recorded on mobile devices. This information could be crucial in catching his killer."

A 22 year old man who was arrested in Hanwell on suspicion of murder, rioting and for three burglaries has been releasd on bail.
