The Chancellor, George Osborne, has urged Ealing voters not to get 'distracted' by a recent incident involving the Labour candidate, Rupa Huq.

Footage taken at a Conservative campaign walkabout showed Ms Huq challenging Mayor Boris Johnson, before leaflets were thrust in her face and a party worker then grabbed her and attempted to pull her away.

Ms Bray apologised to Ms Huq -via twitter - and the party worker was asked to stand down.

Mr Osborne who was at the Ealing Studios with the Conservative candidate for Ealing Central and Acton, Angie Bray, was questioned about the incident and said: ''Well look, an apology has been given, as one would expect, but let's not get distracted from the real critical choice people here face on Thursday.

''The choice facing local residents is do you want a strong local MP in Angie Bray who has delivered for this area, or do you want a weak Ed Miliband propped up by the Scottish Nationalists? I think people will see and vote Angie Bray.''

Mr Osborne also said it was ' a real shame' that Ealing was still without its cinema.

'' I've been talking to Angie and she points out that we're here at the birthplace of British cinema and there isn't a cinema for local people, I think we all want the council to hurry up and help deliver one, that's what Angie has been campaigning for and I fully support her.''

He was given a tour of the Imaginarium Studios - where special effects are created - and welcomed the news that the new Star Wars film is to be made in the UK.

“We are here at Ealing Studios, which is of course a great part of Britain’s film making past but it is also central to Britain’s film making future.

“Some fantastic movies are being shot here and also video games are being produced here.

“The great news for the UK as a whole is that the new Star Wars movie is going to be made in the UK. It is going to create 3,000 jobs. It is what happens when you have an economic plan that is working and a film-making industry with real skills and talent.

“There could not be better news on May the Fourth Be With You Day.”
