Traffic in West London has been severely disrupted this afternoon after a lorry went into the crash barrier near junction 1 of the M4 by Chiswick Roundabout.

See picture right which shows how the lorry appears to have skidded 180 degrees before hitting the barrier.

A4 Great West Road in Chiswick is closed and there is stationary traffic in both directions between Chiswick Roundabout and the Sutton Court Road junction. There is congestion on M4 Eastbound to before J2, Brentford and to the A3220 Earl's Court Road junction.

There is very slow traffic on A315 Chiswick High Road in both directions in Chiswick between the M4 junction and the A219 Queen Caroline Street junction and queueing traffic on A406 in both directions in Chiswick at Chiswick Roundabout. Congestion on southbound to Gunnersbury Park and on A205 Northbound to Kew Green.

There are no reports of anyone having been seriously injured in the crash at this stage.
